Clear Protective Floor Coating Systems

Clear Protective Floor Coating Benefits

Floor coatings are tough, protective layers used in applications where heavy surface wear or corrosion is expected.  Clear floor coatings can also be used to prevent surface staining and contamination, moisture intrusion or penetration, silica dust formation, and even the prevention of harmful concrete odors associated with potential bacteria growth and microbes.

Clear Protective floor coatings can be used to provide additional slip resistance by either mixing in appropriate fine aggregate or broadcasting and back rolling the media into the wet finish. Satin sheen, high traffic clear coats with unique ingredients can provide unprecedented abrasion resistance, improving wear and durability and scratch resistance. A clear topcoat can also act as a sacrificial layer, protecting the colored or decorative floor system underneath.

floor coatings are also reflective, allowing it to aid in lighting by reflecting light. This saves the energy required to light the space. Further on safety, the coating can aid in preventing accidents from slips. This is important given that 85% of compensation claims from workers are a result of personal injuries resulting from slipping on floors.

How We Can Help

Selecting floor coatings requires an analysis of specifications. Factors to consider include chemical exposure, abrasion, impact, and thermal shock. Other considerations include appearance, installation time, total project cost, and life expectancy. For optimum performance and results, resurfaced floors must be inspected periodically by a facilities manager or qualified contractor. Periodic inspections are especially important with concrete floors, which are porous and tend to create dust from abrasion and wear.

  • Anti-slip Aggregate coatings
  • Zero or Low VOC coatings

Please Take Note:

given work place liability, safety of our workers and those within close proximity to the process as well as inconsistent results, we no longer acid etch or advocate its use as a surface preparation method for concrete flooring to receive a resinous system. In order to produce the correct surface profile for the greatest adhesion we use steel shot blasting equipment, both portable and electric depending on what the work environment dictates, as well as planetary diamond grinding equipment for the purpose of readying the concrete for its respective resinous system. Using diamond tooling, our grinding process can be used to remove coatings (aggressive diamonds) or grind existing concrete (medium to coarse diamonds to produce an anchor profile). For the purpose of polishing concrete we can also use finer diamonds to create a honed or highly polished look. We also grind existing paint to ready a surface for new coating.
